Blair-Snyder Society

The Blair Snyder SocietyThe Blair-Snyder Society is a group of forward-thinking individuals who, like many visionaries in Parish’s history, have included the School in their planned giving.

On June 26, 1972, Mary Loving Blair, along with Father James J. Niles of The Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, founded Parish Day School. As our founding headmistress, Mary’s vision and entrepreneurial spirit established the foundation of Parish and continues to be an integral part of our school community.

During her three decades as Head of School, Gloria Snyder expanded Parish Day School from the "little church school on Hillcrest" to a PreK through 12th school incorporating today’s Midway campus. Given her deep, personal devotion to our School and our students, it should come as no surprise she would not leave this earth without expanding her legacy to the Parish family she so loved.

Mary Loving Blair and Gloria SnyderIn 2020, Gloria left a $475,000 planned gift to Parish, ensuring her legacy of love for her students will continue in perpetuity. The gift endowed the Gloria H. Snyder Fund, which provides tuition assistance ensuring more students can have the full Parish experience. Gloria firmly believed in welcoming and nurturing students of all economic, religious and ethnic backgrounds, as well as varying interests and academic gifts. Her fund has been an important part of our ability to pursue this vision, ensuring financial barriers do not hinder a student’s ability to join or fully experience the Parish community.

In recognition of her legacy and her gift, Parish expanded the name of our planned giving society to honor Gloria. First named in honor of founding Head of School Mary Blair, the Blair-Snyder Society now bears the names of both these venerated leaders. It is only appropriate that individuals who choose to create a lasting legacy at Parish through bequests and other planned gifts be invited to join this honorary society bearing the names of these two visionary servant leaders.

Join the Blair-Snyder Society by naming Parish Episcopal School in your estate plans. Gifts can include bequests, charitable remainder trusts, gift annuities, charitable lead trusts, life insurance policies and select gifts of real estate. Your membership in the society is ongoing. There is no minimum gift and gifts may be designated to a specific purpose, department or program. Undesignated gifts go toward building Parish’s endowment to provide a permanent and perpetual source of income for the School.

If you join the society, we can show our gratitude to you now for ensuring that the School will continue to inspire generations to come through your planned gifts, and will be able to build upon its strength and programs in perpetuity.
